At Tacaro Estate
Explore our 74 acres of meadows and woods on a nature hike, stroll down to the rocky coast of the Chesapeake Bay to soak up the sea air, or pedal down the quiet country roads on complimentary bikes. Or you can just enjoy the Bay views as you relax by the seasonally heated pool, soak in the spa, spend the afternoon in our manicured gardens, or get cozy by our outdoor fire pits in the evening.
Patuxent River Park
Patuxent River Park is made up of over 7,800 acres with a variety of amenities and outdoor activities including a visitors center, birdwatching, canoe & kayak rentals, fishing, trails, and more.
Calvert Cliffs State Park
Relax on the sandy shores or explore 22 miles of trails through marshlands and forests at Calvert Cliffs State Park. You may even discover unique prehistoric fossils!
Local Parks & Wilderness Areas
A few other spots to check out include Friendship Pond Park, Sunrise Garden, Walton Beach Nature Preserve and Jack Creek Park.

Wine Tasting
The area around the Chesapeake Bay is fast becoming a wine destination of its very own. Within a 30-minute drive from our southern Maryland estate, you’ll be able to discover several vineyards and wineries. If you don’t get a chance to make it to a few of our following favorite tasting rooms, you’ll still have a chance to sip some local wines at our complimentary afternoon happy hour! We’re also happy to arrange Saturday wine tasting tours for two at up to four local wineries on the Legacy Wine Trail or Patuxent Wine Trail.

Sports & Sailing
Besides the peaceful tranquility found at The Inn at Tacaro Estate, the biggest draw to the area is the Chesapeake Bay and outdoor activities. Whether you’re looking for a way to make memories with your partner or bond with a group, there are several ways to accomplish that in southern Maryland.
Sailing Charters
Pop the Champagne, look for marine life, or just enjoy the fresh ocean air as you glide across the water. There are several wonderful boat charters to tour you around the Chesapeake Bay, including Chesapeake Windsail Cruises, Das Boot Sailing Charter, If you want to try your own hand at sailing, there’s even a wonderful sailing school, The Sailing Academy.
Fishing
The waters in the Chesapeake Bay are wonderful for sport fishing. There are several wonderful fishing charters in the area, including Vickie Ann Charters, The Last Hurrah Fishing Charter, or Fin Hunter Fishing Charter.
Non Motorized Water Sports
Sometimes the water is better enjoyed at a slower pace. Southern Maryland has several places to rent kayaks or paddleboards, including the Patuxent River and ocean destinations, including Chesapeake Paddle Sports and Chesapeake Beach Water Sports.
Golf
Hit the greens while surrounded by the beauty of towering trees at championship golf courses. Make your tee time at Lake Presidential Golf Club or Renditions Golf Course.

Stroll the streets of Deale or Chesapeake Beach to pick up a memento from your trip. You’re sure to discover something special at one of our local gift shops or boutiques. We suggest popping into The Bay Shoppe or Sisters Corner in Chesapeake Beach. Creative Expressions by the Bay in North Beach, Magnolia Shoppe in Friendship, or The Blue Heron Boutique or My Fancy Finds in Deale.
