Editor’s Note: From time to time we invite recent guests to share their own stories of life at Tacaro Estate. Today’s post comes from Carson, who joined us for a quick mother-child getaway and discovered that our breakfast is just as memorable as our gardens and bay views.
This spring, my mom and I booked a stay at Tacaro for a quick little escape—and let me tell you, breakfast alone was worth the trip. We came down in the morning in robes and slippers, no makeup, no rush. Just cozy vibes and a serious craving for coffee.

A Breakfast Room with a View
The dining room is stunning in that quiet, no-need-to-try-too-hard kind of way. Giant wingback chairs, big sunny windows with views of the bay, and charming little tables (each with different place settings!) that makes you feel like you’re sitting down at someone’s very chic home. We immediately slowed down. Like, the kind of slow where you forget your phone exists.
We sat down to real china, beautiful glassware, and fresh juice already poured. It felt elevated, but not stiff or overdone. My mom and I were both like, “Oh yeah… this is the life.”

Let’s Talk About the Food
The staff brought everything out with the kind of ease that only comes from people who genuinely love hosting. The food was next-level—homemade and unfussy in the best way.
We started with endless coffee (a dream) and fresh-pressed orange juice. Then came soft scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon—simple, but perfectly done. Honestly, that would’ve been enough.
But then she brought out the Dutch baby in a little cast iron skillet, topped with warm berries and powdered sugar. I audibly gasped. It was golden, puffy, and buttery, and somehow managed to taste like a treat without being too sweet. We also had croissants—flaky and warm, obviously. It all felt homemade.

Quiet Moments with a Bay View
Between bites, we talked about nothing important and everything important—like whether we should nap before or after exploring the grounds. There’s something about eating breakfast with a full view of the Chesapeake Bay that makes even the smallest conversation feel really special.
Tacaro is quiet. Quiet in the perfect calming and peaceful way. You feel it in your body the minute you sit down with that first sip of coffee.

The Little Touches
There’s no menu at breakfast—Susan and Luciano plan everything around what’s fresh and seasonal, which honestly made it feel like a treat instead of a checklist. You can tell every detail is intentional, from the placement on the napkins to the water in ornate glass cups. They just get it.
Why We’ll Be Back
As we were packing up, my mom said, “I could get used to this,” and I couldn’t agree more. Breakfast at Tacaro felt like being invited into someone’s dream home for the morning. And while yes, the estate is beautiful and the rooms are Pinterest-worthy, it’s that morning ritual—the coffee, the food, the quiet—that sealed the deal.
If you’re thinking about booking a stay, do it!! And when you come down for breakfast in your robe and slippers, just know you’re in the right place.
Thank you, Carson, for sharing your experience. Ready to plan your own breakfast story? Check availability or give our reservations team a call. We’d love to serve you a Dutch baby of your own.
